International day of the girl child is an international observance day declared by the United Nations. Since 2012 , it has been marked as the international day of the girls.

Mount Carmel School, Zirakpur observed this day. Noor Sharma of class 7th spoke in the morning assembly. She explained the needs and challenges that girls face. She emphasized on BETI BACHAO, BETI PADHO.
In the end she concluded that we should collectively work towards the development of India where there is no discrimination based on gender & where girls get all the opportunities to shine.
